Omduramn Islamic University
1 - Omdurman Islamic University was established in 1332 Hijri Year, corresponding to 1921. 2 - The first batch of the University students were graduated in 1924. 3 - The University is currently including 13 colleges. They are : Esoul-Eddin (the basics of the religion), Sharia and Law - Information, Arts, Education, Economics and Political Sciences, Administrative Sciences, Medicine and health Sciences, Engineering, Arabic Language, Agriculture, Pharmacy and Science. 4 - The University also includes the following centres and units: Girl-students centre, extra-mural studies centre, scientific research, authentication, translation and publication centre, house of Omdurman Islamic University for printing and publication, the central library, Medical services centre, computer centre, statistics and information administration, external relations administration, information and public relations administration, investment administration and the engineering affairs administration. 5 - To Realize its message, the university has established many branches outside the Sudan, including the following: a) Al-Jinan University in Lebanon b) Abul-Nur Islamic Complex in Damascus, Syria. c) The university have concluded scientific agreements with a number of universities such as the university of science and technology in Yemen, King Faisal university in Chad, Al-Mustansiria and Baghdad universities in Iraq, the International Islamic University in Islamabad, Pakistan, Damascus University, Halab University, Teshreen University and Al-Mansoura University. The University also has cultural and scientific agreements with some institutions and institutes operating in the field of higher education and scientific research such as the National Institute for Culture and Computer in the United Arab Emirates. 6 - The University enjoys membership of the following: a) The African Universities Union, with the university's vice-chancellor Prof. Ali Ahmed Mohamed Babiker as its deputy chairman. b) The Arab Universities' Union, where Prof. Ali Ahmed Mohamed Babiker is a member of the Union's executive committee. c) The Islamic Universities Association, the international Universities' Union and the Islamic World Universities Union. 7 - Terms of Admission (Bachelor): a) Obtaining of the Sudan High School certificate or its equivalent. b) Meeting the terms of higher education's unified admission. c) Pass in the four basic subjects, in addition to pass in the three subjects of specialization. d) The study fees are $ 3000 for the scientific colleges and $1000 for the theoretical ones. 8 - Post Graduate studies' terms of admission High Diploma: a) Bachelor degree from Omdurman Islamic University or its equivalent. b) The study fee is $3000. Master: a) Bachelor at Omdurman Islamic University or its equivalent with "Good" degree or above. b) The study fee is $5000. PhD: a) Obtaining of Master Degree at Omdurman Islamic University or its equivalent. b) The Study fee is $8,000. 9 - The University awards the following scientific degrees: Medium diploma, Bachelor, High diploma, Master and PHD degrees. 10 - The University's Vice-Chancellor is Prof. Ali Ahmed Mohamed Babiker. Tels. : 784348 - 784365 - 554272 The University and its Administration is situated at the University town in Al-Fitaihab area, south Omdurman, except for the college of education which is in Al-Thawra area in Omdurman, the Faculty of Arts and Arabic Language in Wad Nubawi area, the female students' centre in Al-Arda area and the college of information in Khartoum at Al-Sajana area. 12 - Number of Students : The total number of the University students (bachelor) is 22978, 14323 of them male students and the rest are female students, with regard that the University adopts the single-gender education system, where all the female students study at the female student's centre in Al-Arada area, Omduramn. The total number of the post-graduate students (high diploma, master and PHD) is 7289 while the the extra-mural studies' students number 12,000. |
