CONCORP is a multinational company registered in U.S.A. Isle of Man, Uganda, India and Sudan, with offices in, Uganda, India and Sudan. CONCORP is basically a construction company involved in the construction of residential buildings and apartments, multistory office buildings, warehouses, industrial buildings, hotels, hospitals, parking lots, oil refineries and distribution and marketing of petroleum products.
In 1991 the company ventured into the oil business and purchased three oil refineries of 2,000 BPD and 25,000 BPD. The 2,000 BPD refinery was the first privately owned refinery in Sudan to refine the indigenous Sudanese crude in southwest Sudan. After commissioning a successful operation in 1992, CONCORP sold the refinery to the Ministry of Energy in Sudan. CONCORP's success in the refinery business qualified it to negotiate and buy out Chevron Oil Company of Sudan in 1992. Eventually CONCORP Petroleum took over 42 million acres of concession rights with proven reserves of 1.3 billion barrels of oil. In August of 1993, CONCORP concluded a deal with the Sudan Government and sold CONCORP's concession rights and assets in Sudan to the government. In March 1996, CONCORP started erecting its 1000 BPD refinery in Khartoum, Sudan. This refinery will start operation late in 1997. CONCORP is a shareholder in Gulf Petroleum (Sudan) (GPS). GPS has successfully developed and is now producing crude oil from Adar/Yale oil field in Upper Nile State (Sudan). At the beginning of 1996 CONCORP finished putting up Oil Depots in Khartoum State, Northern State, White Nile State, Blue Nile State, and South Darfur State, and opened fuel service stations in Khartoum thereby establishing itself as a refining as well as distribution and marketing company. In addition to its upstream and downstream oil activities in Sudan, CONCORP's assets include sizable shares in Greenland Bank in Uganda and 40% share of a prestigious 12 storey office building in the center of Kampala. The company also owns residential apartments, its own offices, workshops and staff houses.
